Dog Day Care, Pups Day Out, Boarding, puppy day care

Pups Day Out (PDO) is a day care & more for your puppy! Owned and operated by by two pet lovers for pet lovers, your pups day out will be full of excitement, socialization, and constant interaction on many levels! We love your pet as much as you do, and it shows! Weather permitting PDO takes daily walks through the metro park and on pre-scheduled occasions we visit the Lakewood Dog Park!

PDO also has an appointment keeper program that allows your pet to visit the Vet's office when you are unable to take them yourself! For younger puppies or other new members to your family PDO can arrange for initial appointments with your new Vet! If you don't have a Vet we can recommend a great one to you!

PDO has a standing policy of up to date vaccinations for each of our guests. Proper documentation may be requested from new clients in order to maintain our safe and healthy environment. Because our daily adventures include walks through nature we ask that you are current with flea and tick treatments. We also require that your dog is Spayed or Neutered.

Breeds:

PDO does not care what kind of breed you pet may be. There is no size minimum or maximum! We do not judge a book by its cover or a dog by its bark! We judge your dog based on it's personality. The only type we do not accept are 'mean' tempered dogs. It doesn't matter if they are less than 1 pound or more than 100 pounds, if they are not able to interact with other dogs then we can not accept them.

We do provide 'breaking / training' services for 'difficult' dogs should you be interested. This service is available on weekends only. Our methods are calm and loving, never violent. Availability may vary. The goal of this service is to train difficult / antisocial pets to interact with others, both human and canine.

Pups Day Out FAQ

Question #1: Do you have a limited number of dogs that you watch at one time?
Answer #1: Yes, because there is only the two of us ( my wife and I ) we like to maintain a maximum number of dogs that we watch at one time. We do not accept more than 4 dogs per day. This allow us to provide the proper amount of attention, interaction, training, and most importantly control and safety for each pet! The down fall to this of course is that we have a very limited number of available slots per week. This can create a back up in availability and can create a waiting list.

Question #2: What is your emergency plan of action?
Answer #2: We treat each of our furry guests as if they were our own. We have more than 40 years combined experience in animal care with a specific focus on dogs. We proudly maintain a controlled dog friendly environment with safety as our number one concern! In an extreme case which requires medical attention PDO is quick to consult with and coordinate to the nearest qualified animal hospital / doctor. During a stressful time such as this PDO maintains a constant contact policy with the owner(s) keeping them up to date with the situation in real time.

Question #3: Are there any other animals other than the four per day you watch?
Answer #3: Yes, we have two dogs of our own making a total of 6 dog maximum per day. Our two dogs are very well trained and friendly toward others when properly introduced! Perry is the oldest and Tinker Bell is the youngest. Perry is a 65 pound, 5 year old German Shepard / Black Lab mix and Tinker bell is a 4 pound, 3 year old pure breed Miniature Pomeranian! There are no other animals.

Question #4: Do you provide overnight and / or boarding services?
Answer #4: Yes! If you need over night or boarding services please contact us to discuss more details.

Question #5: Do you have experience with small (toy) dogs? What about the other end of the spectrum?
Answer #5: Yes, we have tons of hands on experience with toy size dogs! One of our own little ones is only 4 pounds and as petite and fragile as they come. Even though she is small, she loves meeting and playing with bigger dogs... which is pretty much everyone.

Yes, we also have experience with large breeds such as Mastiffs, Rottweilers, African Hounds, Akbash, etc.

Question #6: Do you have a fenced in back yard?
Answer #6: No. Research shows that fenced in back yards lead to neglect for the sake of simplicity when it comes to your average doggy day care. One of the key points to the success of PDO is to maintain stimulating interaction with our guests. This means that rather than putting them out in a fenced in yard we take them on walks and to the parks. This of course is between our trick training and consistent play time scattered throughout the day!

Question #7: Do you have more than one location?
Answer #7: At the moment, no. Although we do have plans to expand our style of loving dog care to other areas with trained affiliate locations. If you are interested in becoming an affiliate please let us know.

Question #8: Do you have references?
Answer #8: Only the best. We are always excited for our potential guests to hear what people who matter have to say. Ranging from Vet's and their staff to some of our other clients you will be very happy to hear what they have to say about us!

Question #9: Do you watch animals other than dogs?
Answer #9: It depends on the type of animal. The only type of animals other than dogs that we watch must be compatible with dogs or be a low maintenance animal, such as sugar gliders, that can be separate.

Question #10: My pet has medications and special needs. Is this ok?
Answer #10: Of course. We fully understand that our little friends need medicines and special diets in some cases, just as humans do. Our own little dog (Tinkerbell) has daily medications and a special medicated diet. We are also trained to give shots should the medication require.

Question #11: Are you hiring?
Answer #11: No, however we do have an affiliate program. Affiliates are individuals who have to prove themselves as capable as we are to do what we do. We will train affiliates to operate in our image and within our guidelines. The purpose of the affiliate program is to create identical locations that are closer to some of our clients who live further away from us. Contact us for more details!

Question #12: Do you have any experience with shelter / rescue dogs?
Answer #12: Tons! Our beloved Perry spent over 2 years in a Columbus Shelter System by the time we found him. We understand the unique complications that are associated with dogs that have been abused & neglected in the past. Our loving and patients always overcomes even the most difficult of dogs!
